OUR PURPOSE FOR BEING HERE |
To our Customers,
Our purpose for being here is to disseminate accurate information and to educate interested people in the art of Marine Aquariology. A second purpose is to bring the highest quality livestock to you, our customers!
It's general nature for people to try to buy things at the cheapest price they can find. That's OK!!! It's smart money management. But, when it comes to livestock, it's a recipe that could spell disaster. Being your cheapest source of livestock can not be our purpose! It is simply not possible to offer the highest quality, quarantined specimens with live arrival guarantee at the lowest price. That's a formula for disappointment, yours and ours!!! It's been said, and I've said it again and again, "Quality does not cost, it pays." It pays to buy the highest quality products and livestock YOU can afford. That doesn't mean you won't find some bargains on our site. Our "Specials" page will offer livestock we need to move to make room for shipments arriving. The quality will be there.
The real cost of maintaining an aquarium is not the equipment, it's constantly replacing livestock that dies from poor handling, drugs, improper acclimation procedures, or poorly setup and maintained aquariums. Be aware, there's a lot of felonious information given out by couch potato experts who have had little real experience with the marine aquariums.
My 57 years in this hobby has taught me one lesson that keeps repeating itself, in most instances, you get what you pay for. There's a reason that $100 angel is $45 or that Premium Fiji Rock is $3.00 a lb shipped direct to your door. There are horror stories everyday about unscrupulous people willing to sell you cheap stuff on the Internet. Just go to www.reefcentral.com and open "Vendor Experiences". That's where you will hear about the good and the bad vendors.
Do your own research before spending any of your hard earned money! Achieving success in the marine aquarium hobby is not difficult but because techniques vary, and are evolving, you must read and be willing to study and search for the newest knowledge. I've been doing that for 62 years and what I've come to know is this; "The more we know, I realize how much more we need to learn". Become a good student and you will soon have success. It is my hope and dream that we can play a role in your education. Don't hesitate to bring your questions to us. If we can't answer them, we have a wealth of friends that can.
The bottom line is high quality livestock at fair prices, vibrant and lively fish that are eating, guaranteed live arrival and customer appreciation! That's a formula for success, yours and ours. It's a "win - win" situation, the only way we'll do business!

I guess in many ways I'm still just a kid because the aquatic realm holds me captive to it's charms to this day and beyond. I wonder if there's a reef heaven. I suspect there is, don't you? Someday, if you find one, surely I'll be there waiting for you and watching in awe.
Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed your visit. Of course, we hope you'll come back. You are always welcome and any comments would be appreciated, too.
Sincerely,
Richard & Sue Hilgers
